Unfounded fears? Not so much!

So Gage has never played football before. Wanna know why? Because I don't like games that can SERIOUSLY injure my child. I think that's perfectly reasonable and I don't care what anyone else thinks about my fears.

I finally decided to let him play this year because he has been strength and conditioning training for two years and is much stronger than he used to be. That made me feel a little better. Seeing his first scrimmage did not. They hit each other hard, as I have previously mentioned. Hard enough that you can hear it from the sidelines and that sucks.

Tonight after practice Gage called to see if Nick was almost there. It was about 10 minutes before the normal time and I told him he'd be there soon. He sounded weird so I asked what was wrong. He said nothing but still sounded weird. I asked again but he still said nothing.

Fast forward 15 minutes later as he's walking in the door with Nick. I ask what's wrong because Gage looks like crap. Nick tells me he got hit pretty hard and blacked out on the field. Um...WHAT?!? He BLACKED OUT on the field. Oh and he didn't tell his coaches. Because he didn't want to be a problem. Genius.

Now he's out for a week. The doctor's note says "head injury". Yeah, that's a concussion.

So thanks Gage for proving why I had a very good reason for not wanting you to play in the first place. Could you please knock that "proving me right" shit off?

I understand your fears but head trauma's all part of growing up! I spent half my childhood concussed and I never played football!
F'ing Gage will be fine!
